Places to Visit in Jacksonville

Timucuan Preserve – The Timucuan Preserve is a 46,000-acre area that has individual park sites that reflect a different aspect of history. This area is made up of wetlands and waterways. It is run by the National Park Service. It was established in 1988. This area is named after Timucua Indians. The Preserve is open from 9 a.m. to 5p.m. daily.

Big Talbot Island State Park – Big Talbot Island State Park is located on an island and is mostly a natural preserve. A lot of people come here to study nature, bird watch, and take photos. There are many hiking trails for people to enjoy, kayak rentals, paddle tours, picnic areas, a beach, roads to bicycle, a boat ramp, fishing, geo-seeking, historical sites, shelling, weddings, and more. The park is open from 8 a.m. until dusk, 365 days a year. The boat ramp is open 24 hours a day. There is an honor box to pay fees. It’s $2 per person to access the George Crady Bridge Fishing Pier; $3 per vehicle entrance fee to access the Bluffs picnic area; Blackrock trailhead and Big Pine trailhead; and $4 to use the boat launch.
